Welcome to Swindell Motorsports

4 TIME CHILI BOWL CHAMPION 2010,2011,2012,2013

BIRTHDATE:  February 21, 1989                    HOMETOWN:  Germantown, TN

EDUCATION:  2006 graduate Houston High School/Home School

Kevin Swindell, son of three-time National Sprint Car Champion Sammy Swindell, knew he was going to be a racecar driver.  Kevin began racing karts at age five, even before he could ride a bicycle.  However, due to the strenuous schedule of his father, Kevin could only race during the winter months.

By the time he was five years old, Kevin was winning novice kart races and jumped to a higher class of karts quickly.  He also ran Quarter Midgets before the end of his first year.  As Kevin grew, he got deeper in competition by winning World Karting Association Divisional races his first year.  By the age of twelve, he was winning in dirt and pavement karts and 600 Mini-Sprints.  A year later, Kevin moved up into WKA National competitions, where he picked up two National Championships, a Grand National win, along with seven National race wins in only two years.

In 2004, Kevin chose to concentrate on 125 TAG road race karts to expand his learning curve in all areas of racing.  With the help of Indy car veteran Mark Dismore, Kevin scored three wins, six top fives, and eight top ten finishes in only four weekends of competition.

“This kid has tons of natural ability.  Kevin has really adapted quickly to road course racing, almost like he has been doing this type of racing all along.  What really impresses me is he can go away from it for two or three weeks, go race ovals, dirt and pavement, and come back here and win,” said Mark.

Kevin also chose to be part of his father’s crew, working along side him to learn not just about driving, but the mechanics of the car as well.  “I am trying to gain as much experience out of any type of racing that I can before I step up to bigger forms of racing,” said Kevin.

In 2005, Kevin turned the heads of many by becoming the youngest driver in the history of the World of Outlaws sprint car series to score a top 10 finish in a feature event.  He was just 15-years-old when he finished 6th in the event at Paramatta Speedway during his first ever trip to Australia.

Continuing to expand his racing resume and show his versatility, Kevin competed in the USCS Sprint Car Asphalt Thunder series, winning 5 of 10 features, setting new track qualifying records at each track.  That year, the National Sprint Car Poll awarded him "Rookie of the Year" honors in two classes.

“The ease he has had getting up to speed at the tracks we have raced has been amazing to watch.  These tracks are fast and high banked, and he is setting track records.  I have been really pleased with his progress,” said his father, Sammy.

“So far in my career, I have had some great teachers and I am really grateful.  My Dad has taught me early to learn about each racecar then go out and drive it. I am looking forward to each new step in my career,” said Kevin.

In 2006, he became the youngest driver to win a World of Outlaws main event at 17-years-old at the Charlottte Dirt Track. This year also saw his first ever drive in a stock car, running four ARCA Remax Series races for Dodge and Evernham Motorsports.

Teamed with Kasey Kahne Racing and Mopar in 2007, Kevin contested the entire USAC Sprint and Midget National Series, dirt and pavement, finishing 6th in points. Winning the prestigious "Night Before the 500" at Indianapolis Raceway Park was one of the highlights of his year.

Kevin continued to diversify his racing in 2008, driving Midgets, Sprint Cars and Stock Cars, competing in the Camping World East Series for Gillett/Evernham Motorsports. No matter which it is, dirt or pavement, he has continued to show how easily he adapts to each type of car he is given to drive.

He has always set his goals and aspirations very high.  Aiming to win in each series he competes in, so far that goal has been accomplished. With 77 wins already in Sprints, Midgets, Mini-Sprints, Karts, Quarter Midgets and Road Race Karts, Kevin will be completely ready for his next challenge.
