KEVIN SWINDELL WINS TOLEDO USAC MIDGET RUN
Toledo, OH -- Jul 10, 2006 --

In only his 7th start, Kevin Swindell scored an impressive win against the country's best USAC pavement midget stars at Toledo Motor Speedway Saturday night. Driving a car built by Spike Chassis and wrenched by his father, Kevin drove away from the field and won his first ever National Midget USAC feature event.  Starting from the pole, Swindell lead every lap and credited his win to having a great handling car.

"We have run this car four times now, and have gotten it working great. It can be hard to come into a different series, especially USAC, and beat these guys.  It has been a goal of mine to win one of these this year.  We only had a few on our schedule to run this season, so we had to get it done pretty quick," said Kevin.

Coming off a fifth place finish Wednesday night in Columbus, the team was looking forward to a good run at Toledo.  "I had to race hard and pass a lot of cars at Columbus because I started 14th, and we were able to learn about the car, how it handled.  I knew going into Toledo we would be ready to contend for the win.  I just want to thank everyone who has helped; John Godfrey & Bob Trafford at Spike Chassis, Gary Stanton for a great Mopar motor, and especially my dad.  He works unbelievably hard for me so I was happy I could repay him with the win," explained Kevin.

The next race for the Swindell Motorsports team will be back to the dirt sprint car at Eldora Speedway this coming weekend for a two day event which includes the $50,000 to win King's Royal race on Saturday night.
