K. SWINDELL SCORES STRONG FINISH AT SUMMER CLASSIC
Memphis, TN --
Jul 25, 2005 --
Wanting more time on the famed 1/2 mile track before the Knoxville Nationals was the purpose for running the two day show at Knoxville this past weekend and Kevin got an added bonus. He was named Hard Charger of the weekend after finishing 6th during the Saturday finale. Starting in 21st position on the grid, Kevin was able to pass 15 cars during the 25-lap feature and record his first top-10 at the Knoxville Raceway.
"We came here this weekend so that I could get more time racing on this track," Kevin stated. "With the Nationals coming up in a few weeks, we decided to make this weekend a test session for me. I knew the car was running great and, with the addition of Rob Hart to my team, we were able to make the right decisions for the Feature and passed alot of cars. It was one of those races where you wished it was 40 laps. I just ran out of time after I caught the lead cars."
The night began with the top-16 cars in points from Friday taking the first 8 rows in the Feature. After transferring from the B-Main, Kevin started the race in 21st position, passed 5 cars in the opening lap and continued his impressive run through the field to finish 6th.
The next race for Kevin will be Friday, August 5 at Eldora Speedway.
